 The Lagos Command of the EFCC, on July 1, 2022, secured the conviction and sentencing before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos of one Ahmed Soetan Adebola, a United Kingdom ex-convict for credit card fraud to one year imprisonment.  The EFCC had on June 3, 2022, arraigned the convict on a one-count amended charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence contrary to Section 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011. The charge reads thus: "Ahmed Soetan Adebola sometime between the 23rd day of October 2020 and 4th November 2020 in Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division with intent to defraud, checked into RADISSON BLU Anchorage Hotel for the sum of N4,449,633.12 with the understanding that your payment will be made using an American Express card with pretence you knew was false."   Witness Reveals Forensic Investigations Linking Naira Marley To Credit Card Fraud The trial of Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, continued before Justice I. Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on June 9, 2022, with the EFCC presenting reports of forensic investigations linking the defendant to a Visa Card fraud. Marley is being prosecuted by the EFCC on an 11-count charge bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud. He pleaded "not guilty" to the charges when he was arraigned on May 20, 2019.   Pero is a young woman who breastfed her father Cimon, after he was sentenced to death by starvation. During the reign of Louis XIV (1643—1715), Cimon was sentenced to death by starving for thieving a loaf of bread. Pero was both the only daughter and the only one allowed to visit him. She was allowed to visit Cimon daily, but she was thoroughly searched so that no food was taken in. However, after four months of imprisonment, Cimon was still alive and didn't even lose weight. This puzzled the authorities and they decided to investigate the possible reasons for this. After spying on Pero, they were surprised to find her breastfeeding her father to the fullest with her breast milk. She was sued, subsequently, but upon realizing the extent of her love and compassion towards her father, the judge's heart was softened and they decided to pardon the father and set him free.   The EFCC, Makurdi Zonal Command, has arraigned one Amaka Oranuka before Justice Abdu Dogo of the Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi, Benue State. She was docked  on  two-count charges bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N10, 347, 000.00 (Ten Million, Three Hundred and Forty Seven Thousand Naira). Specifically, Oranuka allegedly offered  to sell two IX25 Hyundai SUV cars, worth N15,000,000.00( Fifteen Million Naira) to a petitioner , who claimed that he made a total deposit of N12,293,000.000( Twelve Million, Two Hundred and Ninety Three Thousand Naira)  in instalments into her bank account,   but after payments, no such cars were delivered to him and all efforts to recover his money proved abortive.   Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  on Monday, May 16, 2022 arrested serving Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris in connection with  diversion of funds and money laundering  activities to the tune of N80billion (Eighty Billion Naira) only. The Commission’s verified intelligence showed that the AGF  raked off the funds through bogus consultancies and other illegal activities using proxies, family members and close associates. The funds were laundered through real estate investments in Kano and Abuja. Nollywood actress, Nse Ikpe-Etim, has said she felt inadequate as a woman when she found out she could not bear children of her own. The 47-year-old thespian said this in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo. Recall that Nse had earlier disclosed she had to undergo hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to have a life again after she was diagnosed with adenomyosis. “Finding out I couldn’t have children didn’t make me feel ashamed. I felt inadequate. I felt inadequate as a woman but not ashamed, which was because of how I was brought up. Where I’m from we don’t tie shame to ourselves. Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) has recovered more than $23 million stolen from Nigeria by the country’s late military dictator Sani Abacha. NCA, in a statement on Thursday, May 5, 2022, said the funds were retrieved as part of a wider pool of funds identified by the United States Department of Justice (USDOJ) as having been stolen out of Nigeria in the 1990s by Mr Abacha and his accomplices. According to the statement posted on the U.K.’s crime agency website, the funds were recovered after seven years of litigation and international negotiation pursued by the NCA, at the request of the DOJ. It said the funds have now been transferred to the Home Office of the UK for onward transmission to the USDOJ. A 30-year-old widow, identified as Jamila Abdullahi, has been arrested by the police in Kano State for allegedly dealing in illicit drugs.  It was gathered that the suspect was arrested along Kwanar Ungogo area on Saturday, April 30, 2022 with 35 tubes of Rubber Solution. Operatives of the National Dr#g Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested businessman Afam Ukatu, over an alleged N3 billion tramadol deal linked to Abba Kyari, a suspended deputy commissioner of police (DCP). The chairman of Mallinson group of companies was arrested on a flight to Abuja from Lagos airport on April 13, 2022, NDLEA said in a statement on Monday, April 25. According to the statement, “Investigations revealed that he has been a major importer of large consignments of different brands and high dosages of Tramadol Hydrochloride, ranging from 120mg, 200mg, 225mg and 250mg, all of which are illicit. Mr Ukatu owns pharmaceutical and plastic manufacturing companies, which he used as a cover to import illicit drugs into Nigeria.
