NIGERIA: The Story on Oluwabamise Toyosi Ayanwole

Oluwabamise Toyosi Ayanwole was a Nigerian 22 year old lady tailor who went to source for her daily bread, when the wind blew and her family never had her return back to them alive.

On February 26th 2022, while Bamise was on her way home it, she boarded a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus with plate number 240257 from Chevron Bus-Stop Lagos Nigeria, going to Oshodi at about 7 p.m.  Bamise had a funny feeling as she observed that the driver did not pick any other passenger on the road.

Bamise sent a voice message to a friend of hers airing her fears and was advised by her friend to drop at Oworonshoki bustop. A video in circulation confirms Bamise's fears about the lights in the BRT switched off and the deceased being the only passenger on board.

On the other hand the driver of the BRT bus by name Andrew Nice who picked up the 22-year-old tailor who was murdered on Monday said he was not part of those who murdered her.

Mr Nice gave his account of the incident shortly after he was arrested, that the deceased was the only passenger in the BRT bus before the driver picked some other persons along the road.

Mr Nice said these three male passengers he picked,  had guns pointed at him while Bamise cried for help.

“I picked her from Chevron, and the other three guys at Agbigin when those guys show me his weapon as I was inside, I can’t be myself anymore,” Mr Nice said. “Fears have come in, so, whatever the man with the gun told me, I do. I followed that Carter Bridge, that overhead bridge, they ordered me to stop there, they say I should open the door, when I open the door, then when they come down, they now start dragging her, when I saw that she was crying for help, actually, I was helpless,” said Andrew.

The deceased mother has called for justice while other concerned individuals have called out for a mass protest on the gruesome murder of Oluwabamise Toyosi Ayanwole.

Now the questions Nigerians are asking is:
Why was the BRT light put off?
Why did the BRT driver not pick up any other passenger on the road?
Bamise told a story of only the driver being the other person aside from her in the bus, was there really 3 others in the bus?
If the driver was at gun point, why not park in a busy bustop or a fueling station?
How come the driver said that Bamise held the Iron of the BRT but same claimed that he never knew Bamise was not the bus?
